LITE L1-4

combine elements of the client-server and peer-to-peer architectures.

local area wireless network (LAWN) is a wireless distribution method for 2 or more devices

is always built using two or more interconnected comp. to form a LAN within home. It allows sharing files, programs etc.

outlines how computers are organized in the network and what tasks are assigned to those computers.

interface between the hardware & user applications. runs independently & designed to provide platform for other software

Each node is linked to two other nodes, forming a ring. Data can flow bi-directionally.

Every node is connected to every other node in the network.

helps enterprise companies with several disparate offices connect those offices to each in a secure way over a network

is a set of computers that are connected so that they can share information

A central server node is linked to multiple client network devices. -doesn't have to go through each node& more reliable

any network device that can recognize, process, and transmit info. to any other network node. (comp., printers, routers)

consisting of a comp. network across an entire city, campus, or a small region. -formed by connecting multiple LANs.

Its instructions should be clear and straightforward and must be distinct so that it leads to only a single conclusion.

a step-by-step procedure that defines a finite set of instructions that must be carried out in a specific order

a piece of hardware that sends data to a computer. -either interact with or control the computer in some way.

are switches that connect devices to networks without the use of cables.

belongs to a single autonomous system. Use this setting only for networks you control or trust.

These algorithms are used in finding a value or record that the user demands (Linear search, Binary search)

Its instructions must be simple and can be implemented in any language and produce the same results.

an electronic device that manipulates information or data. It has the capacity to store, retrieve, and process data.

It should be adequate and produce the desired output.

is a network concerned with exchanging information in a person's vicinity.

Every node is connected to many other nodes.

When you are telling the comp. what to do, you also get to choose how it's going to do it-diff ways to accomplish a task

used for a local network where the computers operate as a single system at relatively high speed.

refers to the physical or logical layout of the devices on the network.

all devices, often called peers, have equal capabilities and responsibilities. -doesn't require a central server.

a piece of computer hardware that receives data from a computer and then translates that data into another form

some computers provide services (servers) and other computers use those services (clients)

that links the bldgs and consists of two or more LANs within the limited geographical area.

that is spread across a large geographical area.

is a networking technology that helps you to integrate into structured cabling.

are high-powered computers that host data and applications that devices within the network can access.

The algorithm should have a limited number of instructions (it should be countable).

It is used to find solutions to problems like finding the shortest path between cities and real life problems.

By connectedness, we mean either logically, physically, or both ways.

Some nodes are connected to each other, and some are connected to the nodes with which they exchange the most data.

gives instructions and command to a computer. a set of instructions that directs a computer's hardware to perform a task

facilitate the sharing of resources by connecting all the devices, including comp.,printers in a small business network

allows you to create a secure connection to another network over the internet.

connects multiple switches, & their respective networks, to form an even larger network to direct data traffic.

(peripherals) any physical component of a computer system that contains a circuit board, ICs, or other electronics.

These algorithms are used to sort the data in a particular format (Bubble Sort, Insertion Sort)

are the security guards of the network, protecting the network from unauthorized access and malicious attacks.

provides access to block-level storage- shared network or cloud storage that looks and works like a storage drive

accessed by all. Use this to connect to public networks, such as airport or hotel Wifi.

The largest WAN, a collection of networks and gateways linking billions of computer users on every continent.

a group of computer & peripheral devices which are connected in a limited area such as school, lab, home, & office bldg.

it can be private or public network

a computer software package that performs a specific function directly for an end user or for another application

used to define a computer network.

is the best known example of system software (Microsoft Windows, Android, macOS, Linux)

helps us to determine which algorithm is most efficient in terms of time and space consumed

Each node is linked to one other node only. Data transmission over the network connections occurs in one direction.

(tower or chassis) the core of a desktop computer. contains the electronic components of a computer used to process data
