Biome Review - Environmental Science

Arid region that receives less than 10 inches of precipitation annually.

Earth is divided into large geographic regions or ________________, which are based on differences in climate.

In this biome, trees lose their leaves in autumn.

Biome with low precipitation and cacti

Plants in this biome include large broad-leaf evergreen trees, vines, and orchids

Climate zone with coldest temperatures

distance from the equator

Climate zone closest to equator

Animals in this biome include lions, zebra, and giraffe

This is a northern hemisphere habitat with wet soil.

Terrestrial Biome with the greatest biodiversity

Has many large grazing animals, warm temperatures

Biome with many coniferous trees, cold most of the year

A tropical grassland with sparse trees

Average conditions of rainfall and temperature over many years

Biome were most of our grains are grown in the U.S.

Which of these is a biotic factor?

Cold biome with permafrost

Biome that is warm and rainy all year

Biome that covers 3/4 of the Earth

Cone-bearing trees grow best in this area where winters are long, large mammals like moose, elk, and bear

Biome were we live

A region between polar zones and the tropics with warm summers, cold winters and sufficient precipitation
