Midterm Exam - Human Computer Interaction

The goal of creating personas is to ensure that every design decision aligns with the preferences of a single user.

The use of white space is not essential in HCI screen design, as it tends to make the interface appear empty.

Personas are only useful in the early stages of the design process and have no relevance during development.

All of the following except one are different types of memory where the information that humans acquire is stored.

Proper workspace design in ergonomics includes considerations for one of the following.

It refers to making products and services that accommodate the widest possible number of people.

It refers to how good a system at doing what it is supposed to do.

A menu-based interaction style where users make selections from a list of options.

It is described as the rapid jumps of the eyes during reading, which are interspersed with brief periods of stable gaze.

One of the following has no influence with HCI.

Prototyping is mainly used to finalize the design, and it is not effective for gathering user feedback.

The purpose of iteration is to create a final design that is perfect and requires no further changes.

The user-centered design process typically involves creating low-fidelity prototypes to explore & test design concepts.

One of the following is not true.

Personas are created to represent a single, specific user to guide design decisions.

Personas in HCI are typically based on real user data and research.

An HCI interaction style that allows users to interact with computers using human language.

It is the primary focus of ergonomics in HCI.

The HCI element enriches the user experience by providing sensory feedback through touch, audio cues, or biometric data.

It is essential for creating interfaces that optimize elements for efficient and enjoyable interactions.

The contrast format which is found to improve reading from a computer screen.

It refers to the extent to which an interactive product is accessible by as many people as possible.

Giving a persona a name and personality, such as "Betty," helps make the persona more relatable.

This can be in the form of sound, highlighting, animation or combinations of these.

Usability means easy to learn, effective to use, and provides an enjoyable experience.

The goals of usability.

It is done by designing interfaces to have similar operations and use similar elements for similar tasks.

It refers to the process of understanding users and their needs in order to design a system that meets those needs.

Personas in HCI are based on real user data and research, providing a realistic representation of potential users.

It refers to actions or changes made to improve existing designs or create new ones in the context of HCI.

Minimizing the risk of musculoskeletal disorders important in ergonomics for HCI is important:

Efficiency in a software product does not include this:

All of the following are the various sensory modalities and actions that humans use to interact with technology.

Iteration and prototyping are not relevant in HCI when working on small-scale projects.

One of the benefits of prototyping in HCI is that it helps identify potential usability issues.

The element of a computer system affects the ease and efficiency of data entry and navigation in HCI.

It is NOT a primary consideration in ergonomics for HCI.

It is the purpose of creating prototypes in interaction design.

Personas in HCI are real individuals who participate in user testing and feedback sessions.

Grouping related elements together logically is a key principle of HCI screen design and layout.

Personas are created to represent a single, specific user to guide design decisions.

It is the primary goal of interaction design in HCI.

The interaction style involves structured forms or spreadsheets for data entry and manipulation.

HCI stands for:

In a Q&A and query dialogue interaction style, the computer typically poses questions or prompts, and users provide:

The method that involves observing and recording users as they interact with a system without any intervention.

Prototyping in HCI can involve creating low-fidelity representations such as paper sketches and wireframes.

Ergonomics is often used interchangeably with this term in the context of HCI.

NOT a primary goal of HCI design.

All of the following are categories of disability except:

In HCI, integrating paper-based such as printing and scanning does this:

All of the following are typical stages involved in reading during human-computer interaction (HCI) except:

NOT a common input device in HCI.

In a point and click interaction style, users typically employ this device for navigation and selection.

High-fidelity prototypes are typically used in the early stages of the design process to quickly visualize concepts.

The details included in a persona, such as age is not important and can be generalized for different design project

In HCI, alignment refers only to horizontal alignment, not vertical alignment.

WIMP stands for:

The stage of the design process in HCI typically involves researching user needs, preferences, and behaviors.

The computer element that affects the efficiency and responsiveness of computer interactions.

HCI screen design should prioritize cramming as much information as possible to provide users with a comprehensive view.

Word shape is considered important to word recognition during reading because:

Sending information back to the user about what has been done.

Maintaining a consistent order of elements on a screen is not important in HCl as users can adapt to different layouts.

The restrictions that may affect the design process, such as budget, technology limitations, or time constraints.
