PSAT Strategies

Even though this is a practice test, it's important to take it seriously.

If you don't know it, leave it blank.

What order should you work in?

Spend 1 minute per question and move on if you're not getting it right away.

You spent enough time doing math this year. Tonight's the night to relax and go to bed early, not to stay up studying.

The multi-part questions are NOT related. Even if you can't get one part, you might get the other.

How many math sections are on the test?

What can you expect and aim for regarding time?

Why does the PSAT matter?

Show your work for partial credit.

What should you do when they say "5 minutes remaining"?

Where can you start your answer for the free response bubbles?

When should you look at the choices?

About how many should your realistically aim to answer correctly.

Skip the questions with long paragraphs to read. They waste time.

Don't ever erase your scratch work. No one's looking so it doesn't need to be neat. Cross it out and keep moving.
