Understanding the MAA Guide

The AAHL assessment consists of 2 papers and an internal assessment.

The command term "show that" means the same as "prove"

All papers on the AAHL assessment are calculator based.

Some sub topics in the syllabus are optional. I can pick and choose which ones I want to study.

All questions in Paper 2 will require the use of GDC.

On papers, questions will be set requiring the graphing of functions that do not explicitly appear in the syllabus.

All the prior-learning topics will be covered in the course.

Full marks will be awarded if a question has been answered correctly without any working/ explanation.

What is the weightage of the internal assessment?

HL students may be required to use technology to solve equations where there is no appropriate analytic approach.

The notations will be explained in the paper. So I do not need to familiarise myself with these.

The papers in the IB assessment are externally set but internally marked.

We will be teaching all the SL topics in detail in this course.

Paper 1 in the AAHL course is of 90 minutes duration.

On examination papers, radian measure should be assumed in trigonometry if not stated.
