When a dispatcher receives a call for a patient in cardiac arrest, he or she should be able to:
- function as a paramedic until advanced help arrives at the scene.
- determine to which hospital the patient should be transported.
- provide the caller with instructions on how to perform CPR.
- obtain the patient’s entire medical history over the telephone.
