Foundations 1 Unit 2

Idealist trust that we are complex systems of matter and electricity.

The spiritual realm does not exist.

Trust that both the material and spiritual realms exist as one entity. God is everything.

We are here to reach our full potential as a part of the divine existence and unity of "God."

Trust that both spiritual and material exist and are part of reality. They are both independent and interdependent.

The Bible teaches that one of the ways we can worship God is by engaging our minds.

John Lennox a Christian scientist would argue that blind faith is the exact opposite of biblical faith.

The material realm is an imperfect shadow of the spiriutal.

Man is created in the image of God. Man is both physical and spiritual.

The material and spiritual realm occasionally interact but are independent.

Trust that only the spiritual exists. Morality is based on the perfect spiritual ideal.

Understanding worldview provides confidence in my interactions with others.

It is natural to give authority to things that we trust.

The author of the Allegory of the Cave is:

Being a theist guarantees someone is approaching life as a follower of God.

Trusts that spirit and matter are both real yet independent and interdependent to various degrees?

A monist believes that we already exist as a part of God.

Trust that when we "die" we are reincarnated. We morph into another part of existence or reality.

In defining what is real, there are two foundational elements "spiritual" and "material."

A complete monist trust that morality is completely subjective.

What is the study of how we know things?

Genuine belief alters reality.

Materialism teaches that a creator exists.

Faith can accurately be defined as strong beliefs based on spiritual conviction rather than proof.

Which worldview influences both Judaism and Islam?

What is the study of what is real?

Idealist believe that God helps us in our imperfections to become what He desires.

A "materialist" wants God to understand them, before they judge them.

What is the study of knowledge and how we know?

Objectivity implies partiality and bias.

The difference between something that is true and something that is false is the truth claim.

Christians should be weary of reason since it dishonors God.

The material and the spiritual are the same.

The word used to describe reality in the Allegory of the Cave is:

Materialism encourages an attitude of "if is feels good, do it," as long as you can avoid consequences.

Objectivity, honor, and respect are all biblical invitations and commands with regards to loving God with our mind.

A monist believes that everything is already perfect and we just need to realize it.

Idealist believe that our shadows should try to become one with the ultimate perfect, spiriutal reality.

Having multiple worldviews helps us to make sense of the world with accuracy.

The Bible teaches that it is righteous and honorable to worship God through blind faith.

Understanding worldview equips us to understand others, our motivation and ourselves.

A theist bases morality on the personal, all powerful nature of God, who is perfect and good.

Trust that non-material "perfected idea" is eternal and good. History is striving to attain spiritual perfection.

Because of the sacrifice of Jesus, we have the opportunity to exist with God after death.

Objectivity only works when we honestly reject our current beliefs.

The best way for me to love God with my mind is to disengage my mind and operate in faith.

A Christian can be a "theist" as well as a "materialist."

Jesus is the focal point of all history

Morality is absurd or at least subjective and based on preference, majority and power.

It is helpful to be objective when we examine the evidence surrounding faith and worldview

For a materialist, life is absurde, so it is beneficial to seek more pleasurable ways to live.

Proverbs teaches us that it honors God when we seek answers to our theological questions.

What are the two elemental components of reality?

Atheism is a form of materialism

It is wise to think of worldview as a list to memorize.

Lack of understanding the worldview of others can lead to misinterpretation and misunderstanding.

The discipline that identifies the two elements of reality in Genesis 1:1 is:

The philosopher Aristotle is credited with being the father of this worldview.

Trust that reality is made of that which can be observed and measured materially. Man is made of electricity and matter.

What is the study of how you know whether something is real?

Richard Dawkins the leading atheist believes that "faith is an evil that needs to be eliminated.

What is the study of what is real?
