College Admissions: Fact or Crap

Schools only consider your grades from Junior and Senior year for admissions

ACT/SAT prep courses can be expensive, but you should really take them to ensure success

Colleges sometimes look at social media profiles before admitting students

Applications that are turned in late will most likely still be considered

Colleges prefer to admit well-rounded students

If I don't have the minimum GPA/ACT score published by the college I shouldn't bother applying

If I'm planning to attend a community college it's not important to take the ACT

You should wait to visit a college until you've been accepted

A college sent me information, so they are likely to accept me if I apply

You have to be at the top of your class OR prove serious financial need in order to receive aid

There's no difference between early action and early decision

Most students do not end up paying the full cost of college

As long as I've been accepted to a college it doesn't matter what classes I take senior year

If I get high test scores I can expect to be admitted into any college I apply to

Essays written for admission are generally skimmed and aren't as important as the application
