Inquiry Project Presentation

Standardized Test Scores have caused more education leaders to push for reading integration.

Math trade books can deepen connections in the brain, strengthening reading skills.

Story telling is considered an unnatural way for children to learn.

Teaching math should focus on content and not critical thinking.

Should reading skills be integrated into the math classroom?

Many math teachers feel isolated and as though math is too unlike reading to integrate the two.

The tools writing, debating, and referring to multiple texts are ineffective in a math class.

Making predictions is an effective math tool, though often learned first in a reading class.

It is not possible to use Graphic Organizers, KWL charts, and Thinking Maps in math.

Reading helps students increase adaptive reasoning skills-a key component of math proficiency.
