enzymes break down the pectin in the middle lamella

What happens during telophase?

Nuclearenvelope & centrioles reform.spindle fibres breakdown

The root tip squash practical is to investigate Mitosis, what are the two solutions required?

Hydrochloric acid and toluidine blue

How is a sperm cell specialised?

Centriole, nucleus, mitochondria.

What is the acrosomal reaction?

igestion of zona pellucida, allowing sperm to contact egg

What happens during interphase?

Normal metabolic process of cell continue. DNA is replicated

The tip of a growing pollen tube releases digestive enzymes into the style. Why
enzymes used as a catalyst to speed up the growing process
enzymes digest the protein, allowing the plant to repair
enzymes break down the pectin in the middle lamella
5
What happens during telophase?
Chromosomes coil and nuclear envelope disappears
DNA synthesis- DNA replication
Nuclearenvelope & centrioles reform.spindle fibres breakdown
Chromatids are pulled apart by spindle fibres

What is the acrosomal reaction?
The entry of the sperm nucleus into the egg
digestion of the acrosome by the sperm when it meets an egg
igestion of zona pellucida, allowing sperm to contact egg
The fusion of the sperm and egg plasma membrane
11
What happens during interphase?
Chromosomes coil up
Normal metabolic process of cell continue. DNA is replicated
Energy supplied from respiration moved the chromatids apart
nuclear envelope breaks down
12
Interphase is split into three phases, What happens during the “S” phase?
The cell splits
The chromosomes are duplicated
Cell increases in size
A checkpoint- ensuring the cell is ready to undergo mitosis

What is the definition of a zygote?
A formation of single body units to create a protein.
A mature haploid male or female germ cell
A non-specialised cell
A diploid cell resulted from the fusion of 2 haploid gametes
