Basics of Computer Organization

The fastest type in the memory hierarchy

The part in the CPU where all computation and calculations take place.

Components such as DSPs, GPUs, codecs, main memory, CPUs and caches on the same chip

Provide efficient computation on arrays of data using Single-Instruction Multiple Data (SIMD) techniques.

Holds address of the instruction to be fetched next

When large volumes of data are to be moved, a more efficient technique is required, which is ______.

The basic electronic element of current microprocessors

Provides for communication among processors, main memory, and I/O modules

Contents of the memory are lost when the computer is shut down

In Memory Hierarchy, Cache memory is _____________.
