Research Exam 2

Convenience sampling is most likely going to compromise which type of validity:

True or False: Statistical testing guarantees a correct decision

True or False: a larger effect size means that the difference between two sample means is smaller.

What does a confidence interval (CI) represent in research?

Which of the following is a type I error?

Which type of power analyses would be used before data collection?

Correlation coefficient is between -1.00 and 1.00.

All of the following are appropriate usages for the Pearson product-moment correlation EXCEPT:

In the context of OT research, why is a larger effect size more useful for clinical decision making?

How does increasing sample size affect the statistical power of a study?

Which of the following is not true about parametric statistics?

Which research designs describes a study with a random assignment, a control group, a pre-test, and a post-test?

Which threat to internal validity can be minimized by using control groups and random assignment?

Attrition, maturation, selection, and regression to the mean are all threats to what kind of validity?

Attrition, maturation, selection, and regression to the mean are all threats to what kind of validity?

To estimate sample size, we need the number of predictor variables, desired effect size, power level, etc. AKA... ?

What would be the correct strength and direction of a correlation coefficient of -0.70?

What is the strength of the relationship between variables with a correlation coefficient of 0.4?

What is used to develop an equation for prediction?

Which term describes the linear relationship between variables where as x increases, y decreases?

True or false: a larger alpha value is more likely to commit a type I error and less likely to commit a type II error

You r a researcher studying the effect of new intervention. 4 ppl from the "I" group drop out (attrition) after 3 weeks

Which of the following best describes Type II error?

What is true about the effect size?

External validity examines the generalizability of the study findings to other populations outside the study.
