IE - Chapter 3 - Working with Layers

_ adjustments affect the range of color, lighting, opacity, level, or fill.

frequency distribution bar

_ masks are resolution dependent bitmap images; created w/ painting or selection tools

___ adjustments apply predetermined pictures, tiles, or pattern.

images that combine, or merge, multiple images and drawings to create a new image.

refers to color luminance or intensity of a light source

Adjustments - portion of image that is strongly illuminated; may appear as light part of image

___ techniques is the layering of images and actions

The ___ layer is a flat, single layer.

Adjustments - a darkened shade in an image

eraser mode that has the most flexibility in size-shape is circle-default brush shape

difference between lightest & darkest tones in an image

eraser mode that is hard edged-fixed-sized square-cannot change opacity-erases straight line

section that you can manipulate independently from the rest of the documents

To undo erasures you can....

eraser mode that is similar to the brush mode; does not spread as much to adjacent pixels

adds a glow around the outside edge of the layer

___ masks are resolution independent; created with a pen/shape tool.

An opacity setting of ___% completely erases pixels when using the eraser.

Adjustments - midpoint gray between shadows and hightlights

___ adjustments are special effects or blends.

shade of a color in an image

Erases all similarly colored pixels; can specify depth of erasure

___ is to reproduce.

___ is the level at which you can see through a color to reveal the layer beneath it.

___ techniques are non-destructive meaning no pixels are changed during the process.

outlines the layer with a color-gradient-pattern

intensity of a hue; highly dependent on color model
