Physical Science Review- PART 1

Democritus gave us the Idea of the atom

These two men are responsible for the most elements on the periodic table

Anthropogenic means

In the presence of a base universal indicator solutions turn

A pure substance that exhibits chemical properties and has internal structure

this was responsible for the modern chemistry field

Bases are proton donors

What do you add or subtract from Celsius to get Kelvin measurements in temperature

An educated guess based upon research, observations, and personal experience is called a hypothesis

a property of water that allows a paper clip to float on the meniscus that is created due to hydrogen bonding

Acid base reaction produce an ionic salt and water

at 0 degrees Celsius

Gave us the solar system model of the atom

statement that all atoms except hydrogen and helium would like to have 8 electrons in their outermost shell

The space occupied by an object is called its _______

A method for studying the natural world based on observation

Valency is one of the most important ideas in chemistry

in science there is such a thing as heat

the measurement of the resistance of a fluid to shear or tensile stress is called:

Heating the pop increases nucleation

A + B yields AB is what type of chemical reaction

A + B yields AB is a synthesis reaction

Measurement of the quantity of matter in an object.

Indicated the 5 laws

Hydrogen and Helium want 2 electrons in their outer shell

The one thing that deviates from the natural environment in a experiment

mice are an interesting analogy for this theory

Aluminum is a diatomic element

MINOH is commonly used to do what in chemical equations?

Acids are proton donors

Thomson gave us the idea of the electron

Diet pop floats and regular sinks because of

Process in the scientific method that is based on your analysis of your data

An attraction between atoms or molecules allows for the formation of chemical compounds

colliders/accelerators are used to make anthropogenic elements

A reaction in which a compound reacts with oxygen, often producing energy in the form of light

An agreed upon unit of measurement we use in in measuring, allowing conversions and comparisons

This man gave us the periodic table

A type of mixture in which different materials can easily be distinguished.

The physical process that was responsible for the reaction we saw in the mentos pop bottle project
