Foundations of Faith Unit 1 & 2

What is a commitment made by a person to an object?

When we die, we exist eternally with God or eternally separated from God.

We create our own meaning for existence.

All Theists are Christians.

What is a faith without evidence?

The individual human is her/her own “god” (there is no actual God).

There is no truly objective standard for good and evil. You decide what is good and evil

What are the two elemental components of reality?

We are connected to history as part of the one existence, which is “god.”

The spiritual and material are BOTH real, existing as one. They're the same thing.

When a human “dies,” he or she “morphs” into another component of reality, which is “god.”

Religions such as Islam and Judaism fall under this worldview.

Which one is NOT one of the six worldview questions?

What is a person, place, or thing, which a person commits to?

The doctrine that salvation is gained through good works.

The spiritual and the material are both real, yet dependent and interdependent on each other

Like “god,” morality is dual in nature: positive and negative energy, dark & light, yin & yang

Everything that exists has always existed

The ultimate Truth can be realized through meditation, and not theorizing or speculating

God (and God’s Word) is the standard for and author of morality.

The leader of the New Atheist Movement who says all religious faith should be eliminated

What is a set of foundational beliefs that shape how we view the world?

Claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behavior does not conform.

God is personal and interacts with his creation.

What is evidence that supports one’s trust in an object?

Would most likely be affiliated with the concept of a “force” that connects all living things.

Only the material realm is real.

God is a lie, a figment of man’s creativity and imagination; He is an idea

What does it mean for a worldview to be coherent?

What is NOT one of the “Three Components of Faith”?
