Chapter 3 pt 1

What did Spallanzani study to learn about sound waves?

Who is the "daddy of music/harmonics?"

During what war was SONAR first utalized?

Who is the "daddy of acoustics?"

DaVinci is credited for the angle of reflection equated the angle of incidence

What is the frequency needed for adult abdominal imaging?

What is Pythagoras credited with creating?

Who was the first to demonstrate reflections from a gallstone?

What year did ARDMS begin to offer a pediatric sonography certification?

What all does triplex imaging combine?

What is the speed of sound in soft tissue?

What does a standoff device allow to be scanned more clearly?

What frequency is needed to image the infant spine?

What are piezoelectric materials most likely derived of?

Who is considered the "father of echocardiography?"

What is patient prep for abdominal imaging?

Abdominal sonographers maybe required to scan any external body part if gel and transducer can be applied

What makes a 4D ultrasound different from a 3D ultrasound?

Doppler recognized that a frequency shift or change is created when sound impinges upon a moving object

What does 3D ultrasound measure?

Who identified the pebble theory?

The 1st application of ultrasound for medical diagnosis was done when and by who?

Who is the "daddy of ultrasound?"

Where can sound not travel through?

Who established the varying uses of continuous-wave Doppler and spectral analysis?

What was Dopplers first name?

What did Karl Dussik image in 1941?

Who is breast sonography the initial modality of choice for?

What can be a standoff device?

Who introduced pulsed-wave Doppler?

Pedoff probe is a CW transducer

Robert Boyle's recognition of sound needing a medium to travel through was the groundwork for the use of coupling gel

Who's flawed technique was first in medicine?

Who used a sonar to record M-mode?

What process happens when a material generates electricity & changes shape when pressure is applied to it?

An acoustic standoff device places distance between the transducer and the skin

Who used transmitted ultrasound to examine the heart on either side of the body in 1950?

What instrument is used to detect flaws in metals?

Breast sonogram should be set at least at what frquency?

Who is credtited with recognizing the piezoelectric effect?
