Coding vocab, functions and contracts

a general statement of the name, domain, and range of a function

in Pyret, 7==7

software in which you can write and evaluate code

There are only two Booleans in the universe

The data types are : number, string, Boolean, and image

information from the computer about errors in code

28 <= 28

a symbol that manipulates two Numbers and produces a result

how we refer to a function or value defined in a language (examples: +, *, star, circle)

-23.999 > -24.001

a letter or symbol chosen to stand for a value or expression

Which of these is a less than or equal to symbol in Pyret?

What is the name in this contract? cylinder :: Number, Number, String -> Image

"a"=="b"

How many arguments does cylinder :: Number, Number, String -> Image expect?

What is the range of is-present :: number, string -> Boolean

the type or set of inputs that a function expects

a 'sentence diagram' using shapes of the structure of a mathematical expression, showing order of operations

Which contract expects 3 arguments?

Which is the contract for rectangle(40, 50, "solid", "blue")

the type or set of outputs that a function produces

Which is NOT part of a contract?

23.999 > 24.001

= means equal to in Pyret

a type of data with two values: true and false

-8 <= -10

the right-most text box in the Editor, where expressions are entered to evaluate

a computation written in the rules of some language (such as arithmetic, code, or a Circle of Evaluation)

Which of these is a greater than symbol?

the inputs to a function; their expressions follow the name of a function

a mathematical object that consumes inputs and produces an output

a way of classifying values, such as: Number, String, Image, Boolean, or any user-defined data structure

errors where the computer cannot make sense of the code (e.g. - missing commas, parentheses, unclosed strings)

a value with quotes around it (examples: “64”, “red”, “solid”)

"cat" <> "dog"
