Theme

The exact definition of a word.

Drafting, revising, editing, and proofreading are all essential parts to this.

Something that proves or demonstrates the truth of something else.

Analyzing two things in relation to each other.

Helps explain ideas and information more clearly.

Inference

The end of a piece of writing.

Specifically analyzing the differences between two things.

An implied meaning--the meaning the writer intends/may not be the same as the literal meaning

Tells a story

Reasons given to support a writer's claim.

Plot

Adjectives that appear in a sequence to modify the same noun.  Ex. It was a bright, sunny day. 

Make comparisons using words such as "like" or "as".

A statement that cannot be proven because it states a writer's belief about something.
