Block 5 Unit 3

Fighter, FAC, mission package, or agency will be performing exactly as stated by ATO

Can be hardwired from an external time-distribution system

Aircrew does not have visual contact with the target/bandit/bogey/landmark

Repeat this entire transmission back to me exactly as received

VHF radio

Generated variable; comes from NSA & controls pseudo-random frequency hopping pattern

No permission granted or information that is not correct

Used after making several failed attempts at making initial contact

Fundamental ingredient or R/T procedures; without it, radio net cannot function efficiently

Consists of last 2-digits of Julian date + 6-digit time

Speak slightly slower then normal conversation

Separation of text from other portions of the message

Operates in VHF-FM range of 30.00 - 87.95 MHz

Contact is not associated with action in process

Used primarily for establishing & maintaining comms

An error has been made in this transmission; transmission continues with the last word correctly transmitted

Designated for standardization, speed, & conciseness of transmission

Words/phrases that have been assigned meanings to expedite message handling on circuits

Releasing officer changes the substance, or phraseology, of a message after it has been transmitted

Operate IFF as indicated or IFF is operating as indicated

Once good comm is established; omit call-sign of station being called

LINK 11/TADIL A

________ should as for normal conversation; shouting causes distortion

Determines frequency in hopping pattern at which radios in that net begin to hop

Required for over-the-air rekey

Go to designated frequency

Standardized routines that are designed to make voice comm easier& faster

Worldwide 36 digit TRANSEC variable

Used in cipher text operation & encrypts/decrypts operational voice & digital data transmissions

Yes/permission granted

No visual contact with friendly aircraft/ground position

Assigns a unique word to each letter of alphabet to eliminate confusion & enable consistent & accurate pronunciation

No operative radio

Switch off equipment

Electronically loaded into radio with a fill device prior to opening a frequency hopping net

Use of short sentences divided into sensible phrases

I have received your message, understand it, & will comply

Following is my response to your instructions to read back

Performed to inquire about signal quality

Start comm jamming countermeasures

Also known as a "Mickey"

Exchange data

I am repeating the transmission or the portion indicated

Anti-jam system provides voice & data comms

Aircrew does not have the ground object, reference point, or target in sight

Instruction to addressee that the message must acknowledged

Flying in clouds or area of reduced visibility

Used to make initial contact with external agency

Designed to be reliable, secure & easily maintained

Transmission is in error

Acknowledge sighting of a specified reference point

Operates in the range of 225.000 to 399.975 MHz

Use of fewest amounts of words to say something

Enemy position/target is in sight

End of transmission; no answer required

Encrypts/decrypts TEK

Can be received over-the-air from another HAVE QUICK radio acting as a master clock

3-didgit number; enables several radios using same WOD & TOD to comm without interfering with one another

Must be correctly inserted by operator to key the system to proper hopping pattern, rate, & dwell time

Combo of letters & figures the ID a comms facility, org, or individual on radio net

Conducted to test or adjust equipment or to obtain readability reports

Any system/technique used to eliminate the interfering signal

End of transmission; response is necessary

To be free from obscurity & easy to understand

Required for synchronization of frequency hops

Voice procedures designed to provide fastest & most accurate method of speech transmission

Prerequisites = WOD, TOD, & net number

Used mostly by Special Operations Forces

Functions essentially as normal VHF-FM radio

Slightly higher than normal conversation to improve clarity

Provides level of anti-jam protection to some of normal UHF band

Can be acquired directly from Transit or GPS satellites

UHF radio

Anti-jam comms system; automatically changes frequencies to prevent normal effects of comms jamming on single frequency

Electronic jamming

Aircrew has positively ID'd friendly aircraft/ground position

Used when no reply is received from a call station

Request/provide a response for a coded challenge

Repeat your last statement

I have received your last transmission satisfactorily
