GCSE CompSci(9-1) Computer Architecture

A seven core processor is called:

How components of computers fit together is known as what?

The Arithmetic Logic Unit is responsible for:

RAM is a non-volatile type of memory. TRUE or FALSE?

Caches have a very low capacity and are expensive compared to RAM and secondary storage.

A type of memory on the processor that stores only a few bytes of data for each one.

A type of register that stores the memory address of the next instruction.

Which of the following is primary storage?

In cache memory, L1 is the slowest and has the biggest capacity. TRUE or FALSE?

This stores the data that was read or written to memory

An intermediate type of memory between registers and RAM

Most computers today use what architecture?

This stores the memory address of the current instruction being executed.

This is used to store the BIOS on the computer.

A quad core processor has a clock speed of 2.8 GHz. How many operations will it carry per sec.

Responsible for arithmetic and logical operations

Needed to coordinate timing and data flow in the processor.

The current instruction is stored in this register in binary.

A six-core processor is called:

Results from the ALU are temporarily stored here until they are written to memory
