4th grade: Algebra introduction

if x= 10 , then x + 5 = 15

A variable is a symbol that represent a number we don't know.

the minus sign is an example of a symbol.

5,10,15,23,25 is a sequence of 5

The inverse operation of addition is geometry.

a, x or y are examples of variables.

A symbol is not an image that represent something.

Order of operations is a rule that determines which mathematical operation is done first.

A variable is represented by a letter.

15 is an example of a variable.

The first step in order of operations is solve addition.

The plus sign is not a mathematical symbol

An equation is a mathematical expression that uses the equal symbol.

A pattern is a sequence or repetition that can be established by shapes or numbers.

the following numbers represent a sequence: 2,4,6,8,10,12,14

The multiplication sign is a math symbol that represent the times a number should be multiplied.

Parentheses are mathematical symbols that help us group data together.

The second step in order of operations is multiplication and division.
