Answers

1
A sensitive period
is a limited time in which imprinting can occur
is the time right after birth
the period during which birds can learn to fly
is the time during which mate selection occurs
2

survival success
coefficient of relatedness
altruistic behavior
inclusive fitness
3
When does imprinting occur?
Later in life
It can happen at any time
The sensitive period

5
A female bird would most likely increase her fitness by
mating with as many males as possible
reproducing only once in her lifetime

rC = B
7
What is a sequence of unlearned, innate behaviors that is unchangeable?
Patterns of action
Fixed biological ecology
IDK

8
In operant conditioning,
an animal learns as a result of associating a benefit/harm
an animal improved its performance of a fixed-action pattern
a bird can learn a song by only hearing that song
an animal learns a behavior by watching others
9
Proximate causes
show that nature is more important than nurture
are immediate causes of behavior such as environment stimuli
explain the evolutionary significance of behavior
are environmental, whereas ultimate causes are genetic
10
Why do male fiddler crabs wave with their large claw?
It's a behavior they have
Attract females and ward off males
Because they can
To say hello
11
Cross-fostering of California mice in white footed mice nests provides evidence for

What does rC > B mean?
cost X the coefficient of relatedness is more than cost
benefit X coefficient of relatedness is less than the cost
benefit X coefficient of relatedness is greater than cost
cost X the coefficient of relatedness is less than benefit
